We review the applications of photoemission electron microscopy for real and reciprocal space multidimensional microscopy and spectroscopy of the collective and single particle excitations at clean and adsorbate covered surfaces. Specific examples are given for ultrafast imaging of surface plasmon modes of nanostructured silver surfaces, and clean and adsorbate modified noble metal single crystal surfaces. The examples given illustrate how ultrafast multidimensional multiphoton photoelectron techniques can probe interfacial charge transfer dynamics.
