Decontamination is a critical component of the recovery phase of a water system contamination incident. However, there is a lack of information for water systems to make informed decisions regarding decontamination of the drinking water system and equipment. The Center for Water Resource Studies at Western Kentucky University (WKU), with input from the University of Kentucky, the University of Missouri, the University of Louisville, and The University of Alabama, has developed an analysis and decision support tool that provides guidance to water sector owners and operators for the decontamination of water systems after a significant chemical or biological agent contamination.
