Worldwide several attacks with chemical, biological or radioactive (CBRN) substances have been prevented during planning phase or have been executed so far. At least poisoning attacks will lead to a loss of trust in the public order. In the worst case properly planned and realized attacks could cause a large number of illnesses or fatal casualties and could lead to major psychological damage like fear or panic. To support the drinking water supplier to plan for and respond effectively to such attacks the comprehensive national German research project “STATuS” was created.
