The heterogenization of molecular catalysts is an area of research that has developed extensively in recent years. Herein, we describe and review a number of mesoporous supports and methods of ligand attachment for a variety of active non-metal and organometallic catalysts. In addition to synthetic methods, we review several different specific single reactions and multistep, tandem reactions. We also describe the various characterization methods utilized to measure catalytic activity and quantify and qualify active-site loading. The advances in heterogeneous catalysis presented in this chapter describe a recent history and, potentially, outline a future direction to extend catalyst applications.
