CHAPTER 6: Nano‐structured Electrodes of Solid Oxide Fuel Cells by Infiltration
Published:16 Aug 2013
The nanoscale and nano‐structured electrode approach by infiltration method attracts increasing attention as the viable alternative for the development of highly efficient electrodes of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs). The infiltration method opens a new horizon in the advanced electrode development as the method expands the set of variable electrode materials combinations with the elimination of thermal expansion mismatch, suppression of potential detrimental reactions between the electrode and electrolyte, and incorporation of wide‐range ionic conducting and catalytic active phases. This chapter describes the infiltration technique and the application of infiltration techniques in the development of nano‐structured anodes and cathodes. The microstructure and catalytic effect of the infiltration on the promotion of the electrode performance is reviewed and discussed.
