The chapter will cover the investigation of the synthesis of metal phosphonates and alkylammonium phosphonates using high-throughput (HT) methods. The first part of the chapter will be devoted to the description of HT methods for reactions in liquid media. It will cover the general methodology, the equipment used and the strategy to investigate complex systems. A summary of the advantages and disadvantages of using HT methods will also be given. In the other part of the chapter the application of the HT methods for the systematic investigation of complex synthesis fields will be demonstrated. Examples are given that focus on certain parameters, i.e. concentration, metal salt, pH and temperature. The initial examples will concentrate on individual parameters while the last examples will discuss multi-parameter systems. These studies demonstrate the advantages of HT methods in respect to discovery, synthesis optimization and extraction of reaction trends.
