In this chapter, we would like to present few of our important findings on the size-. shape- and composition dependent structural, electronic and optical properties of some representative II-VI and III-V semiconductor nanoparticles. These semiconductors have become a popular research pursuit owing to the richness of their physical and chemical properties and wide range of possible applications. The observed nanostructure morphologies are not only very rich but their size also plays a very important role for developing next generation optoelectronic devices.
