White organic light emitting devices (WOLEDs) are predicted to enter the lighting market in the near future. WOLEDs offer the advantage of a simple flat geometry which allows for direct surface lighting. Different strategies to obtain high power conversion, durable and cheap white electroluminescent devices are discussed in this highlight.
