This chapter describes the advances in the chemistry of phosphazenes in the year 2016. The topics cover include acyclic phosphazenes, cyclophosphazenes and polyphosphazenes. The coverage of the latter includes polymers that contain cyclophosphazene units as pendant groups. In addition, hybrid systems that contain a phosphazene motif along with other types of units are also covered. The diverse applications of phosphazene compounds include their use as ligands in coordination and organometallic chemistry, as super bases, as flame-retardant additives, as catalysts, as biologically compatible compounds, as new electrolyte materials for batteries and so on. These are also covered in this chapter.
