Chiral crown and aza-crown ethers with sugar scaffold play an important role in supramolecular chemistry. They are used to differentiate racemic guests and can be applied as chiral catalysts in the PTC reactions. However, mainly monosaccharides serve as chiral platform in the synthesis of these complex molecules. Application of di- and higher sugars (except cyclodextrins) is much less known. In this paper the synthesis of such molecules of hosts based on a disaccharide scaffold is reviewed.
