During the last decade we have witnessed a great improvement of the technology and engineering associated with industrial photochemical processes. Such innovations have allowed to overcome typical problems associated with the upgrade of photochemical reactions on a large scale. The evolution of industrial photochemical processes will be first analysed from an historical point of view, then the second paragraph will describe recent technological innovations, in terms of batch and flow approaches, light sources, handling of heterogeneous systems, on-line reaction monitoring, able to facilitate the scale-up process. The third paragraph will describe successful stories on large scale photochemical processes taken from the recent literature (2015–2019), while the fourth and last paragraph will illustrate modern advances in bulk-scale photopolymerization reactions. Final considerations and future perspectives will conclude this chapter.
