Fundamental concepts, key mechanisms, and future challenges in light-activated tissue repair techniques including photo-tissue bonding, laser tissue welding, and in situ photo-polymerization are reviewed in this chapter. We aim to present a fresh perspective on the fundamental concepts of the photochemistry involved that will allow further advancement in the development ofsafe technologies and efficient clinical translation.
