Many opportunities can be leveraged through the development of highly performing, sustainable, eco‐friendly products. Being compliant with local regulations is a prerequisite for responsible business; however, the industry could contribute much more to sustainable benefits by focusing beyond the minimum compliance level. For instance, material solutions can be developed with no substance of potential environmental concern throughout their life‐cycle and still achieve high performances. The path to more sustainable products and the challenges encountered are explained in this chapter.
