According to the last published report by Cosmetics Europe, The Personal Care Association, previously known as Colipa, the European Union (EU) cosmetic market represents over €66 billion, making it by far the most important consumer market in the world. It is responsible for an estimated employment (direct and indirect) of 1.7 million people, consisting of more than 4,000 manufacturers of which more than two thirds are small medium enterprises (SMEs).
