The de novo design of miniature protein scaffolds, can be a powerful tool with which to answer important questions about protein structure and function. Similarly the design of metallopeptides de novo provides an opportunity to interrogate the role of the protein matrix in tuning the chemistries of coordinated metal ions. This chapter describes recent advances made in the field of de novo metallopeptide design, and covers a broad range of metal ion sites (both native and non-native) and protein scaffolds.
