This chapter surveys the results of quantum chemical calculations and kinetic measurements of the Soai reaction presented in the literature. Two computed mechanisms are compared. Contradictions and weaknesses of available kinetic data, as well as the lack of reliable experimental results are illuminated. Possible ways to overcome this shortage are discussed.
