This chapter summarizes the recent advances of activated carbon, biochar and their supported metal oxides. The focuses are on how to distinguish whether the role of AC in the pollutant degradation by AC catalytic ozonation is adsorption or catalysis, the latest results of activated carbon- and biochar-supported metal oxides and the problem that needs attention in the investigation of reaction mechanism.
