Quantitative analysis in Energy-Dispersive XRF (EDXRF) has two primary components: the quantification of standardized units from spectra, and the use of XRF data in hypothesis testing. To address quantification, the authors survey empirical and fundamental algorithms which are frequently used in pXRF calibrations. To illustrate hypothesis testing in quantitative XRF analysis, an example of Catawba clay typology was used.
