The enhancement of oral bioavailability of poorly water soluble drugs remains one of the most challenging aspects of drug development. Together with the permeability, the solubility behavior of the drug is key determinant of its oral bioavailability. Glipizide is used in the treatment of diabetics. The given study focuses enhancement of solubility and dissolution rate of Glipizide by recrystallization technique. Solubility of drug increases by using recrystallization technique. To identify the dissolution rate UV-VISIBLE spectrophotometer was used, to identify the changes in crystal morphology, structural change, and melting point SEM, FTIR, DSC was used to identify the recrystallized products. Study identified that compounds having good dissolution rate shows high absorption. Seven solvents are used in the recrystallization process. Total three solvents shows good results compared to marketed tablet. Finally, by using three solvents formulated tablets was prepared and identified i.e., marketed tablet, G1, G2, G3, G4, for further in vitro testing.
