The current international literature is concentrated mainly on dispersed technological approaches for water resource remediation, and adopts a localized way of demonstrating these technological applications. In addition, the current literature often fails to cover and represent the wide geographical range of the technologies and materials applied, both nationally and globally. In response to these research constraints this book “Novel Materials and Water Purification” provides a rigorous and systematic approach for the direct and indirect use of novel materials for water management and water purification. These approaches are not limited to aqueous outflows, but also extend to cover a variety of water analysis services, such as in urban, suburban, rural and isolated contexts. As the global water crisis motivates industry to look for alternative water supplies, novel materials present a significant potential for use and for the safer disposal of hazardous water sources. Moreover, the potential for re-using otherwise lost sources of waste, gray or untapped water for further use have emerged.

More specifically this book provides an in-depth review of current technologies and emerging applications, including: biomaterials, advanced nanomaterials, polymeric materials, green novel materials, magnetic absorbents and photocatalysts, nanocellulose, graphene-based materials and engineered macrostructures, quaternary ammonium anion exchangers prepared from sugarcane bagasse, titanium dioxide-based composites, as well as technological and procedural advances, including: synthesis of materials, membranes and desalination in water purification.
