Dr Mohammad Rizwan was awarded a PhD in Biotechnology in 2018 under the supervision of Associate Professor Dr Minhaz Uddin Ahmed at the Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Brunei Darussalam. Subsequently, Dr Rizwan worked with senior lecturer Dr Christopher Gwenin as a Research & Development Innovation Officer-CALIN (2018–2020) at Bangor University, United Kingdom. Since 2021, he has been working with Associate Professor Dr hab. Lukasz Poltorak as a University Professor at the University of Lodz, Poland. Additionally, in August 2017, he worked as a visiting scholar under the supervision of Professor Dr Guobao Xu at the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, China. Dr Rizwan has been awarded several prestigious scholarships, fellowships and funds, including a travel grant from the Newton-Bhabha Fund in partnership with the British Council and the Royal Society of Chemistry, United Kingdom. He acted as a General Committee Member for the 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 #RSCPoster Conferences. Dr Rizwan is a founding member and elected secretary of the “Early-mid Career Scientists Subcommittee” of The Analytical Chemistry Division-V in the IUPAC. His current research focuses on the fabrication of low-cost diagnostics for their potential applications to detect (bio)analytes of interest in biological and real-world samples using state-of-the-art technology with novel strategies.
Dr Minhaz Uddin Ahmed is an Associate Professor of Analytical Chemistry and Biotechnology at Universiti Brunei Darussalam. He holds a PhD in Chemical Materials Science from the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. He has completed postdoctoral fellowships at Duke University in the USA, Osaka University in Japan, and Institut national de la recherche scientifique – Université du Québec in Canada. With over two decades of research experience, Dr Ahmed specializes in applied biotechnology, diagnostics, biosensors, electroanalytical chemistry, nanobiotechnology, and microfluidics. He is recognized for his successful leadership in both independent and collaborative research projects and is an alumnus of the prestigious Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting for Physiology and Medicine.
Dr Guobao Xu is currently serving as a Professor at State Key Laboratory of Electroanalytical Chemistry, Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the People’s Republic of China.
