The food and beverage industry requires efficient and cost-effective techniques to ensure product quality and process control, as the application of analytical methods, such as high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) or enzymatic procedures, can be expensive or time-consuming. The presence of drug residues in beverages and foods has become a growing concern due to adverse health risks and regulatory implications. There is a strong need for the rapid and sensitive detection of psychotomimetic drugs in foods and beverages with high specificity. Various approaches have been developed, such as electrophoresis, biosensors, and immunoassay methods. The use of biosensor technology in the domain of beverages and foods shows significant potential. The key application of biosensors has attained significant importance in the fields of drug innovation, drug identification, bioremediation, food protection principles, security, protection, and ecological examination. In this chapter, we discuss the biosensor applications in psychotomimetic drug detection in beverages and foods.
