This chapter offers an elaborative background regarding the significance of green tyres over traditional tyres considering their respective environmental impacts. The focus is on sustainable ingredients like sustainable alternatives of natural rubber, bio-based elastomers/synthetic rubbers, bio-based processing oils, reversible crosslinking strategy, sustainable/bio-resourced fillers and sustainable tyre cords for compounding of tyre rubbers. This chapter also discusses the economic assessment of the production cost of green tyres for a better understanding of the economic viability of the process. Several case studies have been exercised and systematically documented in each section of this chapter exploring a thorough literature survey in this area.
