Heterogeneous gold catalysis has attracted much attention recently. Most gold catalysts have been prepared by loading gold onto oxide or carbon supports. In this article, we review the development of metal salt-based gold nanocatalysts. This advance not only enriches the family of gold catalysts, but also provides new opportunities for R&D in the future.
