The peculiarities of key reactions in nitroxide-mediated polymerization and the main factors that determine their rate constants are discussed. The process and kinetics of nitroxide-mediated polymerization is determined by the rate constants of: (i) the decomposition of alkoxyamines and macroalkoxyamines, (ii) the recombination of nitroxides and alkyl radicals and (iii) the side reactions. The methods and techniques for the determination of these rate constants are also discussed.
