In this chapter, typical clinical whole-body applications of magnetic resonance-positron emission tomography (MR-PET) are presented. Most current whole-body applications stem from the field of oncology. However, non-malignant tumours and benign diseases associated with inflammation and infection are also suitable diseases for examination using MR-PET. The start of the chapter deals with general considerations relating to the advantages and disadvantages of whole-body MR-PET, especially in comparison to PET-computed tomography (CT). It then continues with oncological imaging, giving examples of diseases that the authors feel MR-PET promises significant advantages over PET-CT. Singular examples of non-malignant tumours and other benign diseases are considered thereafter. Clinical applications of motion correction conclude the chapter.
