Storage tanks are devices for seasonal thermal energy storage that need more attention. This chapter presents the design, material selection, commissioning and operation considerations to take into account for different systems. First, parameters to be considered for the design are presented. Then, hot water stores for domestic hot water system design are presented, including stratification evaluation parameters. Big systems with large-scale water tanks are then presented, followed by storage systems for high temperature (molten salts storage and solids used in regenerators).
