Despite the promises of tissue engineering, tissue damage and organ failure remain major health problems with huge socio-economic cost.1 There is significant opportunity for biomaterial solutions towards curative healthcare, ideally these materials would stimulate the body to self-repair, provide an appropriate environment for neo-tissue formation, and degrade.
