Barleria montana Nees, commonly called as mountain barleria belongs to the Acanthaceae family, widely distributed in India. In the ayurvedic system of medicine, the plant is used in treatment of urinary infections, rheumatism, jaundice, hepatic obstruction, dropsy, fever, inflammation, gastrointestinal disorders, whooping cough, etc. To date there is no pharmacological report of this plant for rheumatoid arthritis. Hence, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the In vivo anti-arthritic activity of the leaves of Ethanolic Extract of the Barleriamontana Nees (EEBM) against chemical-induced arthritis.
