In the following chapter, we present different strategies to access green synthetic methodologies, including a quantification of the advances in terms of sustainability. The examples selected exploit the use of heterogeneous catalysts, safer, biomass- or waste-derived recyclable solvents, and/or the adoption of flow technologies to improve the overall efficiency of the process. The procedures presented will be evaluated in terms of waste-minimization trying to emphasize how the synergy of the different approaches is crucial to achieve environmentally-friendly and chemically efficient transformations.
