Stoichiometry is the branch of chemistry that deals with reacting amounts. It can be used to describe the amount of chemical present and also to predict the how much product is formed in a reaction. Central to stoichiometry is the SI unit of the amount of substance—the mole—which is defined using Avogadro's number. This chapter revises rudimentary concepts in quantitative chemistry and includes examples of routine calculations used in volumetric analysis.
