In this chapter we focus in more detail on the underpinning quantitative theory of volumetric analysis, starting with solving complex equilibrium problems using the so-called systematic approach to equilibrium. The fractional composition concept is then introduced as a means of representing complex data in a single format. The use of first and second derivative curves and the linearisation of titration data using Gran and Schwartz plots are also discussed.
