While Chapter 8 explored CO2-responsive particles, this chapter focuses more generally on a range of other CO2-responsive surfaces, both porous and nonporous. Tailoring the properties of surfaces, particularly making the surfaces stimuli-responsive, is ushering in a new era in the development of advanced materials. Areas of application discussed in this chapter include smart membranes and transport materials, sensors, coatings, bioscience applications, and CO2 capture.
