The sixth chapter of the book collects together the enantioselective cobalt-catalysed ring-opening reactions of epoxides. It is divided into three sections, dealing successively with hydrolytic and alcoholytic ring-openings of epoxides, ring-openings of epoxides with amines and carbamates, and ring-openings of epoxides through (co)polymerisation. Uniformly excellent enantioselectivities have been described by using many types of salen cobalt catalysts, spanning from mononuclear complexes to dimeric or oligomeric ones, including supported ones.
