This chapter focuses on approaches to practical work that provide opportunities for creative thinking and problem solving. Strategies such as escape rooms, problem solving practical work and microscale chemistry are examined as creative alternatives to traditional expository experiments. The challenges of undertaking inquiry and problem based learning are also discussed. These different strategies are illustrated with practical examples throughout.
