Delivery and returns

 

Regardless of what you're buying, shopping online with the RSC should be a simple and stress-free experience. We've put together a list of Frequently Asked Questions, to help you understand how our eCommerce works and hopefully make your visit with us a satisfying one.

 

Ordering

How do I order online?
Please browse the platform and add items to your basket and then checkout. You will be asked to create an account and 'Sign In' in order to proceed to payment. Complete your delivery details as instructed, enter your payment details and confirm your billing address. You are then asked to confirm your order. Your credit or debit card payment is then authorised and your order is confirmed.
You should receive an email confirming your order. If it doesn't appear in your inbox, please check your junk mail folder in case it has ended up there by accident.

What countries do you sell to?
Unfortunately, we are currently unable to accept orders from the following countries:

  • Belarus
  • Cuba
  • Iran
  • Myanmar (Burma)
  • North Korea
  • Russia
  • Sudan
  • Syria
  • South Sudan

 

Delivery

How is the Shipping and Handling calculated on my order?

Shipping to the UK
£3.50 flat rate per physical item ordered, excluding the 2AO RSC Periodic Table Wallchart (ISBN: 9781788011921), where a £5 rate is charged for UK orders. Delivery typically takes between 3–4 weeks.

Shipping to the Rest of the World
£5.00 flat rate per physical item ordered (charges may be converted into the currency of billing). Delivery typically takes between 3–4 weeks for orders within the EU, or 4–6 weeks for the rest of the world.
Please note your order may be subject to import duties and taxes which are applied when the order reaches its final destination. We have no control over these charges and cannot predict their amount. Any applicable duty, taxes or customs clearance charges required by a country for importing consumer goods are solely the responsibility of the buyer and will be charged by the carrier. Failure to accept and pay those charges may results in non-delivery of your order.

I have not received my order in the delivery time stated – how can I check the order status?
Our book distributors may experience delays in processing or despatching your order. If you haven’t received your order in the time stated above, please contact Customer Services and provide us with the details of your order, including your order number.

I have not received delivery of my chapter PDF or digital book
PDF's are accessed online and no physical delivery will be dispatched. You can access your PDF via your confirmation email. If you have not received the confirmation email, please check your junk mail folder and if it's not there contact Customer Services.

For physical items

Our returns policy
If you are not entirely happy with the physical item purchased from The Royal Society of Chemistry, please return it within 30 days of receipt for a replacement copy or a full refund. We recommend that you use a recorded delivery service for your own protection. Please note that you will be responsible for the cost of returning the goods to us unless the item is faulty or we delivered it to you in error. In this circumstance, you must return the physical item to us in pristine and sellable condition to the relevant address below and please include the dispatch note.

For Print on Demand titles
Please note that the usual returns policy does not apply for Print on Demand titles. The books printed as Print on Demand cannot be returned, unless there is a manufacturing error or damaged item, this does not affect your statutory rights. In case there is a manufacturing error or the item you received is damaged, please contact Customer Service.

For digital items (single chapters or eBooks)
Please note purchases made which are available for immediate download or access cannot be cancelled. Only purchases that have been pre-ordered may be subject to cancellation. If you paid by credit card and need to cancel your order please contact Customer Service.

Are my credit card details stored by the RSC?
No, we do not keep or store any credit card details at the RSC. When you proceed to payment you will be redirected to Stripe's secure site to enter your card details – Stripe will not store credit card details, therefore you will be asked to enter this information every time you make a purchase.
